Getting Started
Everything starts here. Follow this guide to quickly get up to speed in the ocean world of Nera.
Welcome to Nera
Voyagers of Nera is an open-world ocean survival game. You wake up in a vast ocean, explore islands, build ships, dive into the deep, rescue lost spirits, and uncover the secrets of this water world. The game supports solo play and up to 10 players in co-op.
First Steps
Gather Resources
Start at the Starting Reef and collect basic materials like wood, stone, and fiber. Break bushes and rocks to gather resources.
Craft Tools
Open the crafting menu and create basic tools — axes, pickaxes, and weapons. Tools help you gather resources more efficiently and defend yourself.
Build a Shelter
Find a safe island and build your first base. Your base stores items, sets a respawn point, and provides crafting stations.
Sailing Basics
Crafting a raft is key to exploring farther islands. As you progress, you can upgrade to skiffs, barges, and even custom ships.
Tip
You can also craft a Skimmer and Glider for fast travel between islands!
Rescuing Spirits
Broken Spirits are scattered across Nera. Find Spirit Shrines and complete tasks to rescue them. Rescuing spirits unlocks Attunement abilities and new gameplay mechanics.
Core Mechanics
Crafting
The crafting system uses fog of war — you must discover new recipes through exploration. Use workbenches and specialized stations for advanced items.
Building
Build bases freely on islands — walls, floors, roofs, furniture, and functional structures. Your ships can also be custom-built.
Combat
Nera's oceans are not safe. You will encounter hostile creatures, including new underwater enemies. Master blocking and stagger mechanics to survive.
Tips for Beginners
Build a Spirit Anchor early to unlock the Attunement system — elemental abilities will make your adventures much easier.
Watch your depth limit underwater (default 30m). Craft a Diver's Reed to explore deeper areas.
In multiplayer, assigning roles (Explorer, Builder, Fighter, Gatherer) can greatly increase your efficiency.
Underwater Bubble Plants restore oxygen — remember their locations!
