Underwater Exploration

The Explore the Deep update brings an entirely new underwater experience.

Explore the Deep Update

Depth System

Underwater exploration now has a depth limit. The default maximum depth is 30 meters. Exceeding this limit causes Pressure Sickness, dealing continuous damage over time.

Warning: Pressure Sickness

Exceeding your depth limit triggers Pressure Sickness. Your screen darkens and health drains continuously. Surface immediately or use a Diver's Reed to increase your depth limit.

Diver's Reed & Vestiges

The Diver's Reed is a craftable equipment piece that increases your maximum dive depth. You can imbue it with Vestiges to push the depth limit even further.

Diver's Reed

Obtained through crafting. Extends the default 30m depth limit when equipped.

Vestiges

Found in Sunken Ruins. Imbue into the Diver's Reed to further increase depth limit.

Bubble Plants

Bubble Plants are scattered throughout underwater areas. Approach them to restore oxygen. They are a key survival resource for extended underwater exploration. Remember their locations and plan your dive routes accordingly.

Sunken Ruins

Sunken Ruins are new underwater zones added in the Explore the Deep update, replacing previously barren underwater areas. They contain locked doors, hostile creatures, and valuable loot.

Tip

You can find Sealed Items and Vestiges in the ruins. Bring enough oxygen supplies and combat gear before entering.

New Underwater Enemies

Deepling Thresher

Hostile creature in deep zones. High damage output — requires agile positioning to fight.

Shockjelly

Stuns players temporarily on contact. Being stunned underwater is extremely dangerous — watch your oxygen.

Glimmerling

Loot goblin octopus — chase it down for rewards, but it flees quickly!

Sealed Items & Arcanist Station

Sealed Items can be found in Sunken Ruins. Bring them back to your base and open them at the Arcanist Station to reveal random recipes or materials. This is an important way to obtain advanced crafting recipes.

Underwater Exploration Tips

Craft Bubble Salve and Bubble Tonic to extend underwater breathing time and reduce oxygen consumption.

The Diving Knife is essential for underwater combat. It can also be obtained through Twitch Drops.

Underwater combat supports blocking and stagger mechanics. Learning to block at the right time greatly reduces damage taken.

Locked doors in ruins hide buildable rewards behind them. Try to explore every door!
