Setup Steps

1

Create or Join a World

The host creates a new world or loads an existing save, then enables multiplayer in the menu.

2

Invite Friends

Invite players through the Steam friends list. Make sure all players are on the same game version.

3

Or Use a Dedicated Server

For a 24/7 online world, set up a dedicated server. The host does not need to be online — players can join anytime.

Role Suggestions

Assigning roles in multiplayer greatly improves efficiency. Here are four recommended roles:

Explorer

Focus on discovering new islands, Spirit Shrines, and Sunken Ruins. Equip Skimmer and Glider for fast travel.

Builder

Handle base construction, ship upgrades, and functional structures. Manage crafting stations and storage systems.

Fighter

Frontline combat power. Master blocking and stagger mechanics to protect teammates from hostile creatures. Path of Fire Attunement recommended.

Gatherer

Focus on resource gathering, fishing, and farming. Ensure the team has sufficient materials and food supply.

Troubleshooting

Cannot Connect to Host

Ensure both parties are on the same game version. Check firewall settings and try restarting Steam. If using a VPN, make sure it does not block connections.

Lag / Desync Issues

If experiencing lag, consider using a dedicated server. Reducing the number of simultaneous players can also improve performance. Ensure the host has a stable network connection.

Save Sync Issues

World saves are stored on the host's machine. If the host changes, save files need to be manually transferred. Dedicated server saves are stored server-side.
